Is it true that the deformation of a food can prevents the consumption of its content?

Yes, indeed. While shopping and before consuming the contents of any can, it is imperative for us to respect the following two rules:
– Every can should be hermetically sealed and completely intact. Otherwise, we should not buy it or consume it, even if its expiry date is still not exceeded.
– Any can that’s convex, swollen, damaged on the top side, showing traces of liquid or rust, containing food that has an unusual smell or that is of a suspicious color, must be discarded.

The preceding cases may be the result of over-brutal manipulations, mechanical shocks, poor storage conditions, a manufacturing defect or any alteration whatsoever.

Therefore, and in all these cases, substances unfit for consumption may migrate to the contents of the can (bacteria, chemical residues, etc.), which makes the packed food toxic.
