5 beneficial foods for a healthy heart

Garlic
The consumption of raw garlic helps promote blood circulation and aids in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, the American Heart Association recommends the consumption of garlic since it helps regulate the levels of total cholesterol, it fights bad cholesterol, it lowers the levels of triglycerides in the blood and it has an effect on hypertension.

Oat
In addition to being satiating and rich in vitamins and minerals, oat slows down the absorption of fat and therefore plays a beneficial role in the regulation of cholesterol.

Walnuts
Walnuts are characterized by their good content of antioxidants and their particular richness in polyunsaturated fatty acids, mainly in the form of omega-3, which have a protective effect against cardiovascular diseases.

The avocado
The avocado is a food rich in monounsaturated fatty acids known for their positive impact on cholesterol levels (by lowering LDL). The avocado also helps prevent cardiovascular disease.

Fish
Fish (grilled of course) is a healthy and beneficial food choice for our health. Also, it is advisable that we consume two servings of fish per week, one of which is fatty fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel, herring, etc.). Moreover, fatty fish which is rich in fatty acids (ex., Omega-3) clearly plays a positive role in the prevention of heart and blood vessels diseases since such good fats help regulate cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation and risks of blood clots.
