Garlic… Here are some important details you may not know!

1 – The American Heart Association recommends the consumption of garlic since it helps regulate the levels of total cholesterol, it fights bad cholesterol, it lowers the levels of triglycerides in the blood and it has an effect on hypertension.
2 – Garlic plays as well an important role in the prevention of colon cancer and stomach cancer.
3 – Garlic is considered a natural antiseptic that acts on the digestive and respiratory systems due to the sulfuric substances it contains.
4 – In addition to the sulfuric substances and the antioxidants it contains, garlic is also a source for calcium, iron, copper, zinc, potassium as well as vitamins A, B1, B2 and C.
5 – Garlic brings us about 131 Kcal/100g. As such, its caloric intake is negligible (1 clove = around 4 Kcal).
6 – People taking anticoagulant medicines should avoid consuming large amounts of garlic.
7 – Garlic may alter the taste of breast milk. As such, breastfeeding women should watch their consumption of garlic during such a period.
8 – Garlic should be consumed in moderation as it is irritating to the stomach and the urinary tract (1 to 2 cloves as a maximum per day should be a safe dose for an adult person).
