Is it true that our body does not burn any calorie while sleeping?

No, this is not true. In fact, whatever the time of day might be, at night or during the day, our body keeps spending calories (but in varying quantities – the lowest being while sleeping) so that to maintain the smooth functioning of our vital organs (heart beating, breathing, etc.), to preserve a constant temperature, to facilitate the digestion cycle, etc.

Therefore, it is necessary for us at morning to do a refill of energy by way of a balanced breakfast. Hence, we should never skip breakfast because by doing so we impose on our body a fasting period that extends too long, from dinner to lunch (or longer sometimes). Such “fasting” often leads us to break up rapidly and to grab and consume all kinds of sweets and fatty foods. Such a fact has been proven by many scientific studies. For this reason, our eventual decision to skip breakfast is a bad idea since, instead of losing weight as we would expect, we end up gaining a few extra sugary and fatty kilos…
