Pepper… Which color to choose? And why?!

No doubt that pepper is the leader vegetable in terms of its content in vitamin C. Moreover, it is low in calories and a true antioxidant mine. The pepper is a true ally of our health.

– This valuable vegetable is the perfect choice to bring us a wealth of vitamins, mainly vitamin C (126mg / 100g), and minerals, especially potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and calcium.
– The pepper is low in calories (21 kcal / 100 g); therefore, we can well enjoy it added to our salads and sandwiches.
– Among the various types of peppers, we find that the green pepper is the richest in flavonoids, while the red pepper is the richest in beta-carotene.
– This vegetable is also rich in luteolin, a powerful antioxidant, which makes it the ideal protector against age-related memory degeneration.
– The pepper helps us protect our heart, as it contains capsaicin, a carotenoid whose role is to increase the resistance of small blood vessels and to improve blood circulation.
– Being a good source of fiber (2 g/100 g), the pepper plays a primary role in fighting constipation.
– Finally, watch out! Peppers can be irritating for people having sensitive intestines. And so, it has to be consumed in moderation and on a case by case basis.
